Behold: Juno (they/them)
Hi! I’m Juno, a Los Angeles-based curation editor at Apple News. I’m also a freelance reporter with work in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, and CNN. (I’m in the process of changing my name, so some articles are still under my old byline.)
I recently worked for The Los Angeles Times as a West Coast experiences reporter. In my two years there, I rode in the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile, jet skied nearly 30 miles from Long Beach to Catalina Island, took a 34-hour-long train ride from L.A. to Seattle, hugged several cows, and wandered America’s largest IKEA while high. I also won a Lowell Thomas gold award in service-oriented consumer work for my guide to queer spots in Palm Springs.
Before that, I spent three years at The New York Times covering local culture, queer communities and nightlife for the Metro section (though I also interviewed TV stars, profiled Twitter legends, wrote obituaries, and worked on special sections). I won a Pulitzer Prize in Public Service with the coronavirus tracking team in 2021.
I was born and raised in New York City but I currently live in L.A. with my partner, Re, and our lizard, Cher.
